Jeunesse and Jeunesse Kids to provide $475,000 USD in relief aid

Sep 13, 2017

Major natural disasters have struck close to home and across the globe. In response, Jeunesse and Jeunesse kids have teamed up to offer disaster relief support through in-kind donations and financial contributions to organizations aiding children and families affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma, as well as those aiding in the widespread monsoon flooding in South Asia.

United Service Organization (USO) — Support for service members and communities
More than 24,000 servicemen and -women are currently deployed in the Gulf Coast region to support the thousands of people whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. The USO is responding to troop needs in disaster areas with care packages and other relief programs. Jeunesse has made an in-kind donation with a retail value of $450,000 USD, offering its ZEN Pro protein shake mix to the USO. This will aid the U.S. Coast Guard and other service men and women who are providing relief efforts, as well as the residents in these communities.

Houston Independent School District Foundation — Recovery aid for students and families
To aid in the recovery efforts for students and their families, Jeunesse Kids is donating $25,000 USD to the Houston Independent School District (HSID) Foundation, an independent nonprofit that supports the seventh-largest school district in the nation. The HSID serves more than 218,000 students, many of whom have been displaced due to the hurricane and flooding. Jeunesse Kids’ contribution will help the foundation assist HSID student families, many of whom are low-income, with obtaining basic needs such as food, water and shelter.

To donate supplies to the district locally, please visit the HISD’s blog for a list of locations, dates and times. Cash donations are also being accepted online to help students and families recover. One hundred percent of funds will go directly to the HSID students and families.

UNICEF — Disaster relief for children in South Asia and those in the path of Hurricane Irma
To help the victims of the weeks of torrential monsoons in South Asia, and to aid in the disaster relief as Hurricane Irma rips through the Caribbean and toward Florida, Jeunesse Kids is also donating $25,000 USD to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF is working on the ground in India, Bangladesh and Nepal to bring life-saving support to the more than 16 million children affected. Due to extreme flooding, many children have already lost their lives. Infrastructure damage is impacting the ability of youth to attend school, and basic needs like clean water, hygiene supplies and food are urgently needed.

Since mid-August, there have been 1,288 reported deaths in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. With this donation, Jeunesse Kids aims to help UNICEF prevent the spread of disease, offer safe evacuation centers and nourish the children who are suffering from the floods. Additionally, proceeds will support UNICEF’s disaster relief efforts, aiding children in communities affected by Hurricane Irma.

“We are not defined by the easy moments, but by the ones in which we pick up those that are most in need,” said Jeunesse CVO Scott Lewis. “Our hearts go out to the millions of children and families struggling to recover from these disasters. We are so grateful to our amazing family of Jeunesse Distributors around the world who generously support Jeunesse Kids. It is their compassion and commitment to our mission that makes it possible for us to reach out in this time of need.”

Jeunesse Kids is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children around the world, offering vital support to one neighborhood, one village, one community at a time. To support the mission of building better tomorrows for young people, please visit give.jeunessekids.org.
